Daniel Mcsweeney, MIA ’07, Associate Director, New York Region at Business Executives for National Security

Dan McSweeney is Associate Director for the New York Region at Business Executives for National Security, a nationwide, non-partisan organization through which senior business executives can help enhance the nation's security. He is also the founder of INTERSECT, a strategic communications and management consultancy based in New York. Previously, he served as Executive Coordinator for Counterterrorism Strategy at the New York City Fire Department, as an Active Duty Marine officer overseas and at the Pentagon, and as National Program Director at Third Millennium, a "Generation X think tank." McSweeney holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and completed his undergraduate studies at Eugene Lang College of The New School. He is a graduate of the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs and attended high school at Valley Forge Military Academy. McSweeney has consulted on diverse projects in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in the United States and abroad and has appeared in numerous print and broadcast media outlets. He serves on the boards of a variety of alumni, professional, and preservation organizations. He was born in New York City to parents who immigrated from Scotland and Puerto Rico. His awards include the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star, the David Woods Award for Humanitarianism, and the American Red Cross Good Neighbor Award.
