Rice: More Than Just Food
Rice is a crucial staple in most parts of the world. But it is becoming difficult to keep up with worldwide demand, says Robert Zeigler with the International Rice Research Institute. He says labor pools are shrinking, water levels declining, and land available for rice cultivation is becoming scarcer.
Zeigler’s presentation on September 9, recapped by Rafael Merchan (MPA DP ‘13), kicked off a series co-hosted by SIPA’s MPA program in Development Practice and the Earth Institute.
