Video Online for SIPA Events 2008

Each year SIPA hosts dozens of lectures by leading scholars and practitioners in the fields of international affairs and public policy, covering topics as diverse as economic development, human rights, climate change, urban policy, and international finance.  Many of these events are recorded and posted to our multimedia website. We invite students, scholars, and the general public to take advantage of these resources..

Ester Fuchs—Confronting the Challenges of Effective Urban Governance
Ester Fuchs, Professor of Public Affairs and Political Science at Columbia University, presented a talk on "Confronting the Challenges of Effective Urban Governance: Lessons from New York," as the first speaker in The Center for Urban Research and Policy's (CURP) new Seminar Series. Professor Fuchs served as Special Advisor to the Mayor for Governance and Strategic Planning under New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg from 2001-2005. She was founding director of the Columbia University Center for Urban Research and Policy and is currently director of the Urban Policy concentration at the School of International and Public Affairs.
