Sarah Holloway to Lead SIPA’s Management Specialization
Sarah Holloway, a former nonprofit executive director and currently a partner in a boutique management consulting firm, has been appointed director of the Management Specialization at SIPA.
Holloway has served on the faculty of SIPA since 2007 and teaches courses in nonprofit budgeting and social enterprise.
In addition to their policy concentrations, students choose a specialization consisting of three courses: a skill or area of knowledge that pairs with their concentration. They choose from:
- Advanced Policy and Economic Analysis
- Applied Science
- International Conflict Resolution
- International Media, Advocacy, and Communications
- International Organization
- Management
- Regional (Africa, East Asia, East Central Europe, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Russia, South Asia, and the United States)
The Management Specialization offers SIPA students the opportunity to develop strong managerial and leadership skills applicable to virtually any public policy arena. The objective is to prepare students to lead major international, national, state, or local public and nonprofit institutions.
Holloway, who holds a Master of Public Administration from SIPA, says she looks forward to the new role. “I want to help bring more resources to the specialization,” she said. “That includes fostering local connections, linking coursework more directly to careers, and organizing discussions, information sessions and networking events.”
Holloway succeeds Lucius Riccio as director of the Management Specialization. Riccio, who has a long history of service with New York City government, will continue to teach management courses at SIPA and the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University.
