SIPA Students Awarded “Education Pioneers” Fellowship

Back to News & Events

SIPA congratulates seven students on their selection for an Education Pioneers Graduate School Fellowship. They are among 20 students from Columbia University – and about 330 nationwide – who will be placed throughout the nation in leadership roles dedicated to comprehensive public education reform.

The SIPA students are Brittany Fox, Mynor Godoy, Thomas Maffai, Joseph Musso, Edward Reynolds, Richard Reynolds, and Erica Sanders.

Education Pioneers, a national nonprofit, is a network of leaders and entrepreneurs that works to ensure a quality education for all students. It places talented leaders outside of the classroom, partnering with organizations across the country, including school districts, government agencies, charter schools, and other leading education organizations.

The Fellows will participate in a 10-week summer program, which offers work experience as a project consultant, professional development workshops, and access to a nationwide network of industry experts and alumni. Nearly 70 percent of Education Pioneers alumni remain full-time as leaders and managers in the field of education.

“We have a rigorous and selective admission process,” said Scott Morgan, founder and CEO of
Education Pioneers. “These leaders have the talent, experience, and drive needed to transform our education system and we unite them behind our mission to ensure all students have the skills to thrive in college, career, and life.”

Examples of previous Fellow projects include integrating teacher effectiveness research, the development of a student achievement data system for a school district, management of a facilities-renovation project, and preparation of growth and quality expansion plans for charter schools.
