Chief TARP Strategist to Discuss Program’s Success, Future of Markets

Back to News & Events

David Miller, chief investment officer for the U.S. Treasury’s Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), will evaluate the program’s success and implications for the future of financial markets in a SIPA Investcorp Lecture on February 25.

Miller helps direct the Treasury Department's effort to recoup billions of dollars the government invested in the financial system at the height of the global financial crisis. When Miller joined the department, the Treasury’s rescue programs, including TARP, were expected to lose money. Today, TARP is on the brink of turning a profit. Miller recently was profiled by the New York Times.

SIPA’s Investcorp lectures focus on policies affecting international finance and business. Previous speakers have included Nandan M. Nilekani, co-chair of Infosys Technologies; Patricia Cloherty, chair and CEO of Delta Private Equity Partners; and Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
