Workshop Team Wins Award for Brazilian Mining Project
IOS asked the SIPA team to conduct further research on the aluminum value chain in Pará, including mapping relevant stakeholders and exploring opportunities for more effective social dialogue. The team, including Stacey Roen (above), carried out extensive interviews in São Paulo and Pará with Vale and other mining companies, local unions and their federal counterpart CUT, government authorities and civil society groups. This initial research revealed a complex web of relations intertwined with political, historical and cultural factors.
