Back to News & Events

Adolfo Carrion Jr. discussed the Obama administration's urban development plans in a conversation with SIPA students on December 2.

SIPA's Urban and Social Policy concentration hosted Carrion, regional director of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

He said urban planning can have an impact on America's competitiveness, and connected low-income housing and education to the nation's global economic position.

"We cannot allow significant portions of the American population to lag, to not be educated, to not have good physical wellness... mental wellness," Carrion told students. "We cannot allow marginalization."
