Jose Miguel HoferColumbia UniversityMPA- Program in Economic Policy Management Candidate Class 2013 In 2010, I began to work at the Ministry of Energy, for the Division of Energy Supply Security and Markets. After two years working at the Ministry, I noticed that several energy strategies were not working for Chile’s energy security in the hydrocarbon market. Additionally, I noticed I had no answers to several of my principal questions regarding oil markets. Nevertheless, this time spent working in government was worthwhile because this experience allowed me to understand the importance of public policies for the development of the energy sector. I decided to apply to an Energy Economics program and chose Columbia’s PEPM. My interest in a multidisciplinary approach to the energy sector was my primary motivation in applying to this program. I was fortunate to receive the Luksic Scholarship offered to Ministry of Energy professionals. |
