Mario Nascimento, MIA '12

 

Mario Nascimento

Mario Nascimento is concentrating in Economic and Political Development and specializing in International Conflict Resolution. Originally from Brasilia, Brazil, he has lived in several countries during the last eight years, including Argentina, Colombia, and the United States. From 2006 to 2010, Mario worked for the Organization of American States (OAS) as a verification officer, participating in the Peace Process held in Colombia. Among his responsibilities, Mario verified the demobilization of paramilitary groups and monitored their reintegration into civilian life. In addition, he developed community projects aimed at empowering victims of armed conflict within the Transitional Justice framework. At SIPA, Mario has focused his studies on peace building, monitoring and evaluation in complex emergencies, and humanitarian affairs. Based on his professional experience and academic background, Mario expects to continue promoting a culture of peace, particularly in zones affected by social violence. In line with this objective, he hopes to work with the United Nations or the World Bank after graduating.

Jorge Paulo Lemann

Jorge Paulo Lemann co-founded the investment banking firm Banco Garantia and helped grow it into one of Brazil’s most prestigious and innovative investment banks. Lemann and his partners then purchased a Brazilian brewery that became InBev, one of the world’s largest beverage producers.
