Mariana Barata Huffel, MIA '11
Mariana Barata Huffel is concentrating in Economic and Political Development. She is from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and has a legal background. Mariana received a Master in Corporate Law from NYU and worked in Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, and Barbosa, Mussnich & Aragao Advogados. In the development field, Mariana has interned at UNAIDS in Malawi, where she conducted research in gender and HIV/AIDS. She has also worked for Juntos, a social network to lift families living in extreme poverty or in displacement, at the Accion Social, the Colombian Presidential Agency for Social Action and International Cooperation. Mariana is currently interning at the headquarters of UNICEF in the context of migration, working to protect children and adolescents. After graduating, Mariana intends to return to her home country and work on social development within international or nonprofit organizations or the government.
