Marcelo Ballvé

Marcelo Ballvé writes about Latin American economics and politics at World Politics Review, a website for foreign policy professionals. At SIPA, Marcelo concentrated in International Finance and Economic Policy, with a focus on Brazil’s economy. He also spent a semester at the Fundação Getulio Vargas School of Management in São Paulo. Marcelo's writing and reporting from 11 countries has appeared in national media, including NPR, the PBS NewsHour, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Washington Post, and The Christian Science Monitor. He was national editor at news non-profit New America Media and a former Associated Press reporter and editor in the agency’s Caribbean and Brazil bureaus.

Jorge Paulo Lemann

Jorge Paulo Lemann co-founded the investment banking firm Banco Garantia and helped grow it into one of Brazil’s most prestigious and innovative investment banks. Lemann and his partners then purchased a Brazilian brewery that became InBev, one of the world’s largest beverage producers.
