Meet the Fellows
Paulo Uebel, MPA ’13
Paulo Uebel is concentrating in Economic and Political Development with a specialization in International Media, Advocacy, and Communication. He was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where he earned a Bachelor of Law from the Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul. He also specialized in Economic, Finance and Tax law at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Paulo worked for several years in the private sector, working for law firms. In 2008, he decided to change career to work for a NGO, based in Rio de Janeiro that promotes democracy, rule of law, freedom, and market economy. At Instituto Millenium, he was the executive director, working in partnership with many domestic and international organizations, helping strengthen democratic institutions in Brazil. At SIPA, Paulo intends to focus his studies on the role of media in helping development. He wants to acquire the necessary skills to promote a positive impact on his country. He is committed to help the Brazilian public sector to be more efficient, transparent and accountable.
