ABOUT CEMTPP

The Center for Energy, Marine Transportation and Public Policy is housed in the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

It is responsible for developing and funding the IEMP master instruction program —currently one of two tracks in the SIPA Energy and Environment concentration—, as well as research programs that contribute to the policy debate as well as to the quality of SIPA's teaching on energy matters, whether in oil and gas, energy trading, international energy politics in the upstream and midstream, energy investment, alternative energy or emerging international carbon regimes. Academic Programs

The Center offers a concentration for students in the two-year Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of International Affairs (MIA) programs and the one-year Program in Economic Policy Management (PEPM). The IEMP concentration offers an integrated treatment of the structure and issues of energy business development and energy policy development.

The IEMP concentration provides a thorough understanding of energy industry fundamentals, including the structure and operation of international energy systems and the business organizations, markets, and governance structures involved in producing, transporting, and marketing energy products. It examines economic, environmental, and social policies applicable to energy production, transportation and consumption; political and strategic issues arising from the unequal distribution of global energy resources; and the impact of technological change on the future role of energy in the global economy.
