Frequently Asked Questions for Alumni

Q. How do I update my contact information?
It’s easy. Using your UNI and password, please visit your profile page on SIPA Global Connection and make the changes. If you forgot your UNI and Password, complete Columbia’s on-line Help Request form.

Q. How do I register for Email forwarding?
Email forwarding allows you to use your @columbia.edu email address by directing email sent to that address into whichever inbox you choose, no matter what internet service provider you use. Simply visit our website.

Q. How do I stay in touch with other Alumni?
There are a number of ways to stay in touch with SIPA Alumni. First and foremost, please ensure that your contact information is updated so that you can receive our e-newsletter and events announcements in your area. (You can do this by visiting Global Connection). This will allow you to also search the directory to stay in touch with fellow alumni. Via the Global Connect system, you can also subscribe to local discussion groups to know what’s happening with SIPA alumni in your area.

Q. How can I stay informed of SIPA Alumni events?
The Office of Alumni Relations at SIPA will notify alumni of events that are forthcoming in your area. That is why it is crucial for you to provide an up to date email address. We also inform our alumni of past and upcoming events through our monthly eNewsletter, our bi-annual SIPANews magazine, and by announcements on our website.

Q. How do I participate in professional networking/mentoring activities?
The Office of Career Services (OCS) and the Office of Alumni Affairs encourage you to network with fellow SIPA alumni and students through SIPA’s official LinkedIn Group, the SIPA Alumni and Student Network.  With approximately 3,000 members, SIPA’s LinkedIn group contains graduates from diverse career fields and is an excellent source for networking and obtaining informational interview contacts.  Only SIPA alumni and students are allowed to join SIPA’s LinkedIn group, and all applicants for the group are authenticated through SIPA.  Your willingness to network and provide professional advice to SIPA alumni and students has helped grow this community, and we need your ongoing involvement to build it further.  If you have not already done so, please consider joining the SIPA Alumni and Student Network on LinkedIn.

Q. How do I make a donation to SIPA?
Making a donation to SIPA represents a commitment to improving our world through the education of the policy analysts, activists and advocates of tomorrow.  Annual giving, through the SIPA Annual Fund, provides the school with immediate, unrestricted support for SIPA’s most important priorities, including student fellowship support and faculty teaching and research.  By providing funding for the current year, it also provides SIPA with the flexibility to allocate funds where they are needed most. For more information on how you can do this, please visit our website.

Q: I don’t see my question. How do I get in touch with your office?
