The Different Faces of Capital: Investments for a Dynamic Africa

From a modest beginning in 2004, the annual African Economic Forum (AEF) has grown to become the largest Africa-focused event at Columbia University. Conceived of and organized by the graduate student organization SIPA Pan-African Network (SPAN), the AEF is a daylong event featuring several topic-specific panels and keynote speakers. The students’ intent is to foster a public discussion on the core issues of African development by having experts of various, and sometimes opposing, perspectives openly debate the merits of different approaches and policies.

We invite you to join policymakers, business professionals, government officials, activists, educators, and students in thinking through these issues with some of the leading minds working with and in Africa today. Organized by the SIPA Pan-African Network in collaboration with the Columbia Business School and the Columbia University Institute of African Studies, the 2008 Forum will highlight opportunities and challenges and explore through stimulating discussion insights and strategies for a prosperous Africa.

AEF V will be held on Friday April 4, 2008 at the Altschul Auditorium, room 417 International Affairs Building of Columbia University located at 420 West 118th Street in New York City.
