About Us
SIPA Pan- African Network (SPAN)
SPAN seeks to create an informal community of support and provide a platform for students interested in the economic, political, and social development of Africa and its Diaspora. We are an open membership group— we represent SIPA students from a variety of interests and disciplines (economic and political development; human rights; economic policy; environmental policy; security policy; and media to name a few), as well as from a variety of ethnicities and countries from around the globe.
The African Business Club (ABC) is a student group dedicated to the advancement of issues related to Africa as well as the promotion of an understanding of Africa at Columbia Business School. ABC strives to increase networking opportunities for members within the corporate community of Africa and serve as a support system throughout the recruiting process for students interested in building careers in or related to Africa. Furthermore, the club supports the Admissions Office in recruiting African Students; and works with prospective students during the admissions process. Finally, the club seeks to bolster the bond between current students and CBS alumni who share an interest in Africa. Club members have the opportunity for meaningful interaction and relationship-building with alumni at various special events during the year, as well as through other channels.
African Law Students Association (ALSA)
ALSA works to articulate, promote, and provide a forum for students, alumni/ae, professors, and professionals to meet and pursue their interest in African cultures, languages, societies, and laws.
Our goal is to sponsor and support formal and informal events that provide insight into African law and culture, and into current issues concerning the relationship of Africa to the U.S. and the rest of the world.
