Cross-Registration Instructions for Non-SIPA Students

The cross-registration process outlined below applies to the majority of courses offered at SIPA. (See further below for information on exceptions to this process).

  1. Submit online add/drop form (1/22/13 (at 10am) - 1/24/13 (at 5pm). Requests submitted outside of this time will not be considered.  (THE DEADLINE FOR THIS PROCESS HAS PASSED)
  2. Admitted students will be automatically registered in the course by 1/29/12. Students will not be notified regarding the status of their request. If a student is admitted to a course the course will appear on SSOL by 1/29/12. If the course does not appear on SSOL you were not admitted to the course.Teachers College students will be notified by e-mail if admitted to a course. Please submit the e-mail to the Teachers College Registrar as proof of admission.

Note:

  • Please ensure that your schedule can accommodate the requested course(s). Students will not be registered for a course if there is a schedule conflict.
  • Non-SIPA students cannot register for more than six (6) credits per semester
  • Students can drop courses online until Friday, February 1
  • Law School students do not follow the cross-registration instructions outlined. Please contact the Law school registrar  at registrar@law.columbia.edu or 500 WJW Hall for further information

Note for Courses Held in the SIPA Computer Lab:

  • Non-SIPA students are issued a guest ID for access to attend a class in the SIPA instructional lab.

  • Guest IDs are issued after information is received from the Office of Student Affairs in the second week of classes.

  • Lab hour access is restricted to the class hours in the instructional lab.

  • Non-SIPA students who wish to use the SIPA computer lab outside of regular class/recitation time must pay $160 per semester (payable by check or cash in 510 IAB).

  • Non-SIPA students who choose not to pay this fee should consult their course instructor or TA and the IT office at their own school about any special software required for the course. SIPA IT is not equipped to provide technical support to non-SIPA students who have not paid the $160 per semester fee.
