Biography:
Dr. Saeed Shafqat obtained an MA (Geography) from the Punjab University. He has an MA (South Asian Studies) and PhD (Political Science) from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He is a founding member and former Chairman of the Department of Pakistan Studies established in 1973 at the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. His research articles on culture, politics, security and various aspects of public policy and reform on Pakistan have been published in journals of international repute. Since 1988 he has been serving as Chief Instructor, Pakistan Civil Services Academy, Lahore. He has been President of the Institute of Regional Studies Islamabad. He was a Fulbright Fellow for the year 1992-93. He was Director of the Fulbright Seminar in Pakistan for the years 1991 and 1994. He was a Visiting Professor at MAISON DES SCIENCES DEL'HOMME, Paris (France) 2000. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Lahore. Currently, he is Quaid-i-Azam Professor and Chair, Pakistan Center at Columbia University.
