Biography:
Lou Riccio is a lecturer in management in the Department of International and Public Affairs and at the School of Engineering and Applied Science. He is also partner and senior vice president of Urbitran Associates, an engineering architecture and planning firm in New York City. His research and teaching interests are in urban affairs, with a focus on transportation, sanitation, criminal justice, and housing.

Previously he served as a managing director for Douglas Elliman and as a special consultant to American Express's new ventures group. From 1979 through 1993, Dr. Riccio served in a variety of government positions including commissioner of New York City's Department of Transportation, board member of the MTA, and a staff member of the President's Commission on Productivity. He has also taught at Lehigh, George Washington, and New York University. He has published extensively and served on the editorial board of the Operations Research Journal. He was the recipient of the ORSA (now INFORMS) President's Award for lifetime achievement in OR/MS and the March of Dimes Service to Humanity Award. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Metropolitan Golf Association and Metrocommute Inc.

He received his BSIE from Lehigh University in 1969, from where he also received an MSIE in 1970, and a PhD in 1973.
