Kristin Mammen
Adjunct Assistant Professor of International and Public Affairs
Biography:
Kristin Mammen teaches U4200 Economics for International and Public Affairs to SIPA first years. She is an applied microeconomist whose research investigates the causes and consequences of the economic well-being of women and children. One strand of her research, in developing country settings, has explored how women's status is affected by the process of economic development, and whether children's well-being improves when their mothers have greater access to household resources A second strand has focused on children in the United States, examining determinants of parental investments in children such as time, and child support from nonresident fathers. The third strand of her research, also in the U.S., examines how policies such as laws governing divorce and child support requirements affect decision making within households and therefore the well-being of women. Dr. Mammen graduated from Columbia College and received her PhD in Economics from Princeton University. She previously taught at Princeton University and Barnard College.
