Biography:
Prior to joining CARE International and establishing its first full-time policy/advocacy office at the United Nations in 2000, Ms. Hunt worked in more than 25 countries. For seven years, she was a foreign correspondent in Africa, eastern Europe and the ex-USSR for National Public Radio, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the New York Times Sunday Magazine, and The New Yorker. From 1994-1999 she was a consultant to various nongovernmental organizations and UN agencies, including UNICEF (State of the World's Children 2000) and Human Rights Watch (Abandoned to the State: Cruelty and Neglect in Russian Orphanages, the basis for an award-winning ABC 20/20 broadcast.) Her investigative work has led to significant policy change and received leading broadcasting distinctions. She holds graduate degrees in public health and sociology from Columbia University, and an International Fellows'certificate from its School of International and Public Affairs.
