Biography:
Gillian Dunn gained her real-world knowledge of working in humanitarian crises through her 13 years with the International Rescue Committee, a leading humanitarian organization working with those affected by violent conflict, oppression and natural disasters worldwide. Gillian led disaster response programs in recent major crises including the wars in Kosovo, Chechnya, Liberia, Congo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan and Libya as well as natural disasters such as the Indian Ocean tsunami, Pakistan earthquake, Myanmar cyclone, and Haiti earthquake.

Dunn was responsible for the overall management and leadership of IRC’s emergency programming, including oversight of the emergency response team. Gillian was a principal on the Inter-Agency Working Group on Emergency Capacity, a member of the board of directors for the Sphere Project during its current revision, and has contributed to numerous publications, including the Camp Management Toolkit.She is the recipient of the Sarlo Distinguished Humanitarian award for dedication and service to victims of violent conflict.

Gillian continues her humanitarian work while pursuing a doctorate in Public Health.
