Biography:
Abraham Wagner is an Adjunct Professor at the School of International and Public Affairs, where he is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies on Terrorism (CAST). He teaches in the areas of national security, defense policy, counter-terrorism and intelligence.
Professor Wagner has published a number of books, including a four-volume series with Anthony Cordesman titled Lessons of Modern War (Volume 1: The Arab-Israeli Conflicts 1973-1989, Volume 2: The Afghan and Falkland Conflicts, Volume 3: The Iran-Iraq War; and Volume 4: The Gulf War). He has also published several recent book chapters, including "Cyberterrorism: Evolution and Trends," in Post-Modern Terrorism, Trends, Scenarios and Future Threats, which was edited by Boaz Ganor (Transaction Publishers 2006); "Cyberterrorism and the Internet," in Fighting Terror in Cyberspace, which was edited by Mark Last and Abraham Kandel (World Scientific Publishing Company2005); "Terrorist Use of New Technologies," in Countering Terrorism and WMD: Creating a Global Anti-Terrorism Network (2005); and "Information Operations and International Law," in Security and Privacy in Information Society (2005) as well as numerous articles and op-ed pieces, including "Finding Bin Laden," "Connecting the Dots," "Bush's Legacy in Iraq," "Quagmire in Israel," and "Losing Fair and Square" in the New York Times. His new book Meeting the Terrorist Challenge: Coping with Failures of Leadership and Intelligence will be published in 2006.
Professor Wagner has received a BA, an MA, and a PhD in political science and international relations as well as a JD degree. He also teaches at the Inter-Disciplinary Center in Herzilya, Israel. Previously he was an adjunct professor of international relations at University of Southern California.
Abraham Wagner has previously served in the federal government at the National Security Council Staff, the Intelligence Community Staff, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and as a member of several government boards and advisory panels.
