Alexis Wichowski

Biography:

Alexis Wichowski is a media analyst and advisor in the Office of Press and Public Diplomacy at the US Mission to the United Nations where she advises on public diplomacy and social media for the mission and its ambassadors. A former Presidential Management Fellow, she has worked with various State Department offices focused on diplomatic use of technology, including the Office of eDiplomacy and the Secretary's Office of Innovation. She has received two Meritorious Honor Awards for her service, from both the Office of eDiplomacy in 2011 and the Office of Press & Public Diplomacy at the US Mission to the United Nations in 2012.

Wichowski holds a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University at Albany, where her research focused on online political communication. She also has BA in Chinese from Connecticut College and was a Fulbright scholar in China in 1996-97. Her publications include a chapter, co-authored with Dr. Jennifer Stromer-Galley, in Wiley-Blackwell’s "Handbook of Internet Studies.”
