SIPA/Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy MPP Dual Degree Program
Back to SIPA/LKYSPP Dual Degree Program
Students have two options to apply: they may either apply directly into the dual degree program (Start in NYC, end in Singapore), or apply in their first year at either institution.
Direct Admissions/Fixed track: If you are a new student and have not already begun studies at SIPA, you may apply to the SIPA MIA or MPA/LKYSPP MPP Dual Degree program directly through our regular admissions website (Jan. 5 deadline). SIPA and LKYSPP will convene to make joint-decisions by April. All admitted students will begin in New York and finish in Singapore and be awarded either the MIA or MPA from SIPA and the MPP from LKYSPP.
First Year Admissions: To be eligible, students must have been accepted to either SIPA or LKYSPP, and have the option to apply in the spring semester of their first year to complete the dual degree at the other institution in their second year. (Spring term, Feb. 1 deadline)
Application forms for currently enrolled 1st year SIPA MIA or MPA first year students here.
Students are expected to fulfill the equivalent of all coursework for both degrees, and will be set on an intensive academic course that will allow them to do this in two years. The program combines the research and educational strengths of the two schools to create a course of study that gives students a breadth of knowledge with a truly global reach.
Note: Currently enrolled SIPA students should note that they are required to register for at least 16 credits each semester during their first year. Please see sample table of course requirements below.
Tuition, Fees and Financial Aid
Students pay the tuition and fees at the school where they are in residence (e.g., if you are attending LKYSPP, you will pay LKYSPP tuition and fees, and similarly at SIPA). Students who begin at LKYSPP will be enrolled in Columbia University health insurance or have comparable insurance coverage when they are at Columbia during their second year.
2012-13 tuition and fees below:
LKYSPP MPP: S$14,242 (roughly U.S. $11,600)
Columbia Tuition and Fees: $47,724
The First year Core Requirement
Students will complete the core curriculum at their home institution and then pursue an area of specialization at the partner institution in their second year. The program would normally be completed in two years. Instruction is offered in English at both institutions.
