SIPA On-line Curriculum Guide

The Curriculum Guide is designed to assist students in the full-time two year MIA program and MPA program at SIPA in their selection of courses each semester.  The Curriculum Guide can be used to determine how specific courses will fulfill degree requirements, to find course information such as the day, time, and location of a specific course, and to browse course offerings.

Course Descriptions

Course descriptions can be found in the SIPA On-line Curriculum Guide and CourseWorks. CourseWorks is the Columbia University course Web system. Columbia University affiliated students and faculty with a University Network Identification (UNI) may be able to view more detailed course information including course syllabi and reading lists. Individuals with a UNI can access this information using the CourseWorks log-in page. General course information is open to the public.

CourseWorks

CourseWorks provides students and faculty with the ability to centrally manage course content online. Once a student is enrolled in a course, CourseWorks serves as a single point of entry for course information and content, including links to digital library reserve materials, a calendar to track assignments and deadlines, bulletin boards, and announcements from their instructors. Students and faculty may access CourseWorks using their Columbia UNI and password. Course descriptions and syllabi can be accessed through CourseWorks.

Directory of Classes

The Columbia University Directory of Classes has the most up to date information on all Columbia courses.This directory contains information necessary to register for classes including; meeting times, class location, instructor, call number, and approval status. Please check this Web site periodically for any last minute changes to the course schedule. Students should rely on the online version of the Directory of Classes for the most current and accurate course information.

MIA and MPA Registration Guides

SIPA publishes the MIA/MPA Course Registration Guide each semester. The MIA/MPA Course Registration Guide is an extensive printed list of courses that may fulfill the MIA and MPA degree requirements. It includes all of the information necessary to register for classes including; meeting times, class location, instructor, call number, and approval status.

You can view Course Evaluations for past courses.

Course Evaluations

Log into the Courseworks@columbia website with your UNI and password and under My Courses you will see all your courses past and present. To see past evaluations for classes in which you were enrolled, click the Evaluation button on the left under the course number. For current semester courses look to that same location once the close date of the evaluation has passed. To see evaluations for all past classes including those for which you were not enrolled, see the SIPA Course Evaluation Listings for Past Semesters page.
