Curriculum
Students enrolled admitted to the International Media, Advocacy and Communications concentration in spring 2009, fall 2008 or earlier are required to take six IMAC courses and complete a related internship in order to graduate. Examples of IMAC courses include the following:
Magazine Writing With an International Dateline
New Media and Development Communication
Radio Without Borders
Tools for Advocacy
The Wired World
Students are not required to choose a track (previously required) but should meet with the Concentration Director as soon as possible to plan a course of study that is suited to their interests. We recommend a mix of courses on new media and writing on international affairs. Also available is a one-semester introductory broadcast journalism course held at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
