IEP Bowling Night
The IEP social committee arranged for IEPers to take a break from the finals rush to bowl off some steam at Port Authority's Leisure Time Bowl.

Maurice "Hank" Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of C.V. Starr & Co., former Chairman and CEO of AIG, and Vice-Chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations, spoke with students about "Integrating China into the Global Economy."

Congressman Charles B. Rangel, Spring 2007 Distinguished Speaker in International Economic Policy Congressman Rangel's speech to SIPA addressed "Congressional Priorities in a New Political Era". He was joined by Harold McGraw III, Chairman, President and CEO of The McGraw Hill Companies, and University Professor Jagdish Bhagwati. Professor Merit Janow--Director of the IEP concentration--moderated the event, which was organized by the IEP Speaker Series Committee.

The Ginger Man, 11 East 36th Street, between Fifth Ave and Madison
The IEP Alumni/Student Happy Hour brought together students and alums from the concentration, serving as forum for exchange between alumni and current students in the IEP concentration, and allowing alumni to reconnect with colleagues from IEP.

IADB Presentation on Regional Trade Agreements

Dr. Kati Suominen, International Trade Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) in Washington, gave a presentation on some of the research at IADB concerning regional trade agreements (RTAs) in Central America.

Columbia University's APEC  Study Center and IEP: Coping with Globalization: The Swedish Model

The discussion, featuring former Swedish Trade Minister Leif Pagrotsky with remarks by Professor Jagdish Bhagwati, focused on Sweden's experience with economic openness, especially on policies to manage the costs and benefits.

OCS Concentration 'Hour'

IEP'ers took advantage of concentration PA's and representatives from OCS to ask career and curriculum related questions.  Students were given resume supplements, concentration fact sheets, career information packets, articles from the OCS newsletter, as well as books and periodicals.

IEP & Business School event: Is American Anxiety Over Globalization Mistaken?
Lerner Auditorium, 6:30-8:00p.m.
The event, featuring Jagdish Bhagwati, University Professor of Economics and Law at Columbia University, and cosponsored with Columbia Bookstore, celebrated the New Edition of his book, "In Defense of Globalization."  Panelists included Lael Brainard and Sebastian Mallaby.  Opening remarks were made by Professor Merit Janow, with Sunil Gulati moderating.

The Office of Career Services (OCS) organized an IEP Private Sector Recruiting Orientation for 1st and 2nd IEP students. This orientation gave students an opportunity to learn about all of the resources available for the private sector recruiting season.
