2008 Curriculum

EPD Curriculum Requirements

The Concentration in Economic and Political Development (EPD) consists of 8 courses:

Core: Three 3-point courses
Development Practice: Two 3-point courses
Professional Track: Three 3-point courses

Note: MPA-EPD students are also required to satisfy the MIA language requirement.

EPD Development Practice Requirements - 2 courses:

This practicum aims at enhancing both a critical and informed understanding of the development field and the practical skills necessary for successful development work.Skills developed through the course of the year include:problem solving, information gathering, developing and analyzing conceptual frameworks, knowledge of ethics, managing stakeholder relations, working in teams and project evaluation.

EPD Professional Focus Requirement – 3 courses

Choose three 3-point courses from one of the following substantive areas.Students who wish to define their own area of focus must submit a proposal to the director for approval. Sample courses for each professional focus can be found by clicking on the links below.
