Curriculum

Students in the Energy and Environment Concentration choose to fulfill the requirements of one of the following three tracks:

• International Energy Management and Policy (IEMP) Track
• Environmental Policy and Management (EPM) Track
• Sustainable Energy Policy (SEP) Track

The courses below reflect the courses offered in 2012-2013. For other courses that satisfy the concentration requirements, please refer to the Audit Form.

1. International Energy Management and Policy Track (IEMP) Overview:

The International  Energy Management and Policy Track requires 15 points, consisting of 5 three-point courses: 3 core required courses; 1 additional energy course; 1 environment course.

Note: Students in the IEMP track must satisfy their SIPA economics requirement with (U6400/6401) Economic Analysis for International Affairs. Students in the IEMP track must also take (U6200) Accounting in the Fall of their first semester and (U6301) Corporate Finance in the Spring of their second semester to ensure proper sequencing.

IEMP Track Core Requirements - 3 courses (9 points)

IEMP Track Electives - Select at least one energy elective and at least one environment elective. Please note that the elective courses below are suggestions only. Students may choose from a wide range of elective courses not listed below that are related to their area of specialty within the energy field and environmental policy field, as long as approved by the Concentration Director.

2. Environment Policy and Management (EPM) Track Overview:

The Environmental Policy and Management Track requires 15 points, consisting of 5 three-point courses: 1 required course; 2 environmental policy courses; 1 environmental economics and finance courses; and 1 energy course.

Note: Students in the Environmental Policy and Management track must satisfy their SIPA economics requirement with (U6400/U6401) Economic Analysis for International Affairs.

EPM Track Core Requirements -1 course (3 points)

EPM Track Elective Requirements - Select at least two environmental policy electives, one environmental economics and finance elective, and one energy elective. Please note that the elective courses below are suggestions only. Students may choose from a wide range of elective courses not listed below that are related to their area of specialty within the environmental policy field, the environment economics and finance field, and energy field, as long as approved by the Concentration Director.

3. Sustainable Energy Policy (SEP) Track Overview

The Sustainable Energy Policy Track requires 15 points, consisting of 5 three-point courses: 3 required courses; 1 additional energy courses; and 1 environment course.

SEP Track Core Requirements - 3 courses (9 points)

SEP Elective Requirements - Select at least two energy electives and one environmental policy electives. Please note that the elective courses below are suggestions only. Students may choose from a wide range of elective courses not listed below that are related to their area of specialty within the energy field or environmental policy field, as long as approved by the Concentration Director.
