1946 School of International Affairs established (SIA), granting the Master of International Affairs (MIA) degree
1946–1962 Seven regional institutes established, eventually focusing on countries worldwide
1960 International Fellows program created
1971 International Affairs Building opened
1977 Master of Public Administration (MPA) program introduced
1981 Renamed School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA)
1991 Department of International and Public Affairs activated; school appoints own faculty
1992 Program in Economic Policy Management (PEPM) created
1999 Picker Center for Executive Education established; Executive MPA program introduced
2001 MPA in Earth Systems Science, Policy, and Management launched (renamed MPA in Environmental Science and Policy in 2003)
2004 PhD in Sustainable Development created
2002-present New international dual degree and executive education programs developed with the London School of Economics, Sciences Po in Paris, the Fundação Getulio Vargas in Brazil, the Lee Kuan School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, and Peking University, among others
2009 New Master of Public Administration in Development Practice (MDP) launched to address the scientific and social challenges of sustainable development
